Fulidhoo is the most northern of the inhabited islands of Vaavu Atoll in the Maldives. It is 0.675 km long and 0.200 km wide and is 55.7 km (35 mi; 30 nmi) south of the country's capital, Malé City. With no vehicles and no modern harbour (a wooden jetty and sandy beach all around the island), Fulidhoo is one of the few islands left with true Maldivian authenticity and beauty. It is home to a population of about 490 people. Although the local language is Dhivehi, many can also speak in English. The island has 12 hotels, 2 restaurants, 9 local shops, and 02 domestic transfer operators. It also has a health centre. However, it does not have an ATM yet. It is famous for Maldivian cultural events like Langiri, a traditional dance with drums and Thaara. With its local island vibes – sleepy and quiet but stunning in beauty, Fulidhoo lately won the award for being the best local island in Maldives for tourists.
