Hangnaameedhoo is an inhabited island of Alif Dhaal (Southern Ari)  Atoll. It is 0.950 km long and is 0.225 km wide and is loacted 71.29 km (44 mi; 610nmi) southwest from the countrys capital, Malé City. The island is well known for its natural beauties such as its statuesque coral reefs and its flawless beach with a fascinating thundi. Hangnaameedhoo has a small, friendly community of  about 736 people. Although the local language is Dhivehi, many can also speak in English.  This island attracts a lot of tourists with 11 hotels, 3 restaurants, 3 shops and 2 domestic transfer operators and a health centre. However, there is no ATM or police station in the island yet. The people of this island are well known for their hospitality and friendliness. The island has a rich history, proven by a traditional mosque dating back to 1609 AD and the shrine of the Maldivian King Ibrahim Kalaafaanu - both which are in the top list of Maldivian heritage.
