Thoddoo is one of the inhabited islands of Alif Alif Atoll. Thoddoo is about 1.675 km in length and 1.200 km in width. One-third of the total area is agricultural, another third is the village itself, and the rest of the island is empty. The island is 67.51 km (42 mi; 36 nmi) northwest of the country's capital, Malé City. Thoddoo has a beautiful desert-like beach that stretches for two kilometers. It’s one of the greatest bikini-OK beach of the local islands of the Northern Ari Atoll. Thoddoo is home to a population of about 2000 people. Although the local language is Dhivehi, many can also speak in English. The island has 35 hotels, a spa, 3 restaurants, 2 dive centers, 10 local shops, and 4 domestic transfer operators. It also has a health centre. However, the island does not have an ATM yet. Thoddoo is known as the largest producer оf watermelon, fruits and vegetables іn Maldives. Other than fishing activities which is the primary occupation of Maldives, the island has become a tourist attraction for its scenic beach and sea. Important historical Buddhist ruins and key remains were found carefully buried on Thoddu in 1959, which had been preserved underground for nearly 800 years.
